About Me
Hi! My name is Gustav Liffner, and I would like to share with you some quick information about my life. A little bit about my hobbies and goals in life, and why I want to learn back-end development. And in the end, hopefully, you will know a little bit more about me.
Personal letter
I come from Västervik, it’s a beautiful small town in Sweden, a place wich is packed with tourists during summer times, but is pretty much empty during the winter.
I graduated high school 7 years ago, and since then my life has had its ups and downs.
I’ve worked as a gardener at a resort which I enjoyed, and I’ve worked as a shop assistant which I didn’t enjoy as much, and i’ve had many other jobs in between.
Summer is my favorite season of the year because its warm and there is a hole lot of activities you can do and most importantly, I get to ride my motorcycle.
I go to the climbing gym 3 times per week, it’s super fun and it gives me the energy I need to make it through the day, and sometimes I play padel wich is fun.
But where I spend most of my time is in front of my computer, it’s where I have access to most of my friends and my hobbies, and it has always been an escape for me when life hits hard.
My favorite game right now is Cities Skylines, a strategy game wich lets you create an entire city on your own.
It can be really frustrating since you have to think about litterally everything, but it’s fun and it puts your creativity to the test.
My greatest strength is also my greatest weakness, I’m a very committed person, if I know that I want something I’m determined to reach it, but if I’m not a 100% sure, I can have a hard time focusing to reach my goals.
My goal right now is to move to south-east asia, the people there seems to be very relaxed and easy going.
And they dont seem to be as stressed out, but I guess that’s just warmer countries in general. And I love animals, especially the dangerous ones.
Right now I’m working as a JavaScript teacher at sundsgårdens folkhögskola. I love working with programming, and I really enjoy helping people achieve their goals of becoming a developer.
Future developer
I cant know for sure if I would make a good future developer, but I enjoy programming, and I have a lot of ideas that I would like to be put on the table.
My uncle is working as a backend developer right now, so I’m starting to get interested in that.
I’m not sure about what I want to work with in the future either, I feel like there are many paths you can take as a backend developer, all I know is that I want to work with this profession and this course could be a great start to all of that.
Motivation
I want to study this course because, first of all, I would like to improve my skills as a programmer and teacher, but also I would like to know more about the connection between the front-end and the back-end, and I think this course could help me with that.
I have thought about becoming a freelancer, so that I can travel and still focus on my job, that way, my journey wouldn’t interfere as much as I carry my work with me.
And I think this course could help me begin that journey.
Previous experience
I studied at sundsgårdens folkhögskola as a front-end developer. During this time I was able to create multiple websites with HTML/CSS and JavaScript/React. I have also created several websites with WordPress CMS, and published them on the web. Right now I’m working as a JavaScript/React teacher at sundsgården, which has also tought me alot.
Skills
https://github.com/sativv/react-quiz-game-api
This was a game project that I was a part of. The goal of the project was to create a quiz, where the user would get a random question and then would be able to answer it. The game included a variety of components, and with the combination of HTML, CSS, JS and React, we were able to create a simple but entertaining game as out final project.
https://github.com/GrumblePuddle/Random-Word-Game
This was an assignment that my students was working on. The project was created to teach them about DOM manipulation. They where given the same project but without the JavaScript. I also gave them an array of random words, that they would use and display randomly inside the game. Of course they also had to work with eventlisteners that would run when the user entered in the correct word.
